El Prat Beach

As part of the ProBleu project and our collaboration with MINKA, our primary students visited El Prat de Llobregat beach near Barcelona to study its coastal ecosystem. They collected plastic waste and observed the biodiversity hidden in the sand. Among their discoveries were beautiful seashells, especially Donax trunculus, a small bivalve typical of Mediterranean beaches. These shells are bioindicators of clean, oxygen-rich waters and play an important role in the food chain. Through this hands-on activity, our pupils understood how human pollution affects marine biodiversity and how even small actions can help protect our environment.
