Terms and and agreements

MINKA is built on principles of open science, collaborative knowledge creation, and ethical data sharing. Our terms and agreements establish the framework for participation in our citizen science community while protecting the rights of contributors and ensuring the sustainable use of biodiversity data.

MINKA Data sharing agreement

The MINKA Data Sharing Agreement outlines the core principles governing how observations are shared and used within our platform. This agreement recognizes that each observation represents a collective scientific effort enriched through community participation, including species identification, validation, and quality assessment. When sharing observations on MINKA, contributors join a collaborative network where their data becomes part of a larger scientific endeavor supporting biodiversity research and monitoring of the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Our data sharing principles acknowledge both individual contributions and collective efforts. While observers retain certain rights over their contributions, including the option to anonymize their personal attribution, observations themselves become permanent records due to their collaborative nature and the valuable input provided by the community of identifiers and validators. This approach ensures the preservation of scientific knowledge while respecting privacy preferences.
